 Joe, a Senior Recruiter and Researcher with Swenson Turner, Inc., began his recruiting career at a small contract staffing firm in late 1990. His entire career has involved providing research, recruitment and competitive intelligence to primarily high technology-based clients.  Today Joe focuses his skills exclusively for our clients in the food/cosmetic ingredients and flavoring industry. He uses in-depth Internet and telephone candidate development research techniques to locate and recruit hard-to-find passive candidates who cannot be found through traditional recruitment methods.

He focuses on sourcing including prospect generation using social software, Internet data-mining techniques, cold calling, and corporate phone bank mining.  He also performs candidate pre-qualification assessment and development including phone screen and candidate qualification questionnaires and candidate closing and reference checking.

Joe received a B.A. degree from the University of California at Berkeley and resides in Portland, Oregon with his wife and business partner, Sue Swenson.

In addition to recruiting, Joe spent over 6 years as the Job Search Guy ™ offering updated tips and advice to job seekers on landing a job in this tough economy. Joe has authored two books on Job Search – Job Change Secrets Unlocked (2006) and Paycheck 911 (2008), the latter with Sue Swenson as co-author. Both books are available on Amazon as well as Kindle. Paycheck 911, is a how-to book on job search written to address the growing demands for a straightforward no-nonsense approach to job search to overcome today’s economic challenges.

In addition to this, Joe hosted his weekly Job Search Guy Radio Show on He also hosted weekly Resume Writing Workshops and Tips for Job Hunters Over 50 teleseminars to thousands of job seekers across North America and Canada. Joe and Sue wrote over 100 recruiting, job search and interviewing articles that can still be found on MSN Careers, Monster, the Ladders, JobDig, AOL and other sites.
